Did you know it is scientifically proven that Kindness is good for you?

I went to a seminar last month presented by Dr David Hamilton who explained this theory, which seemed to make sense.  He carried himself as a funny, confident speaker full of scientific intellect.

He described that by showing an act of Kindness reduces blood pressure, protects you from heart disease and makes the body overall healthier.  So whatever the act of Kindness it is you choose to do “produces a hormone in the brain that actually impacts the lining of your arteries in a very powerful and positive way, actually offering substantial protection from heart disease, even countering much of the effects of poor diet and lifestyle.”

So according to Dr Hamilton, it seems that the more acts of Kindness you express to people, the more benefits you will get in return and these apparently cause structural changes in the brain.  So how we start to bring about this change?

Start your random acts of Kindness, whether helping that work colleague who is struggling at work or helping a blind person across the road, David suggests to write these acts down.  See if you can practice more acts of Kindness which will up the scale of your happiness.

Not only will the body become healthier but your self esteem will grow and you will stop being so hard and negative on yourself.  He also suggests that before you go to bed to write five things that you are grateful for rather than the things to moan about.

I left the seminar feeling very positive and wanting to hug as many people as possible.  If it only takes a few acts of kindness to be a happy person, then I’m willing to show more Kindness than I did before.

Dr David Hamilton has many seminars on other well-being matters around the country, why not listen to How your mind can heal your body below.
