Having a Bad Day?

Politics are the centre of attention at the moment. Only the other day on live television things became a bit heated between a well known political presenter and one of the Labour party’s top advisors and it made me wonder whether this news reporter was just having a bad day under all the strains from [...]

Be Honest

‘If you could have anything in the world what would it be?’ I asked some friends. A round the world trip, a lottery win, a bungee jump off Sydney Harbour Bridge; all but one of their answers was far-fetched. Only one – a father of two young children – said what he wanted more than anything else was a good night’s sleep. We laughed at him. But maybe he was the only one who was telling the truth?

Parents spend more time with Children

I remember when I was growing up my dad was hardly every in the house. Instead he would be out working, earning an honest day’s crust to support the family financially. I remember him working overtime whenever he could and that included weekends. I don’t actually remember spending that much time with him and the role was left to my mum to fulfil.

Wana Talk about It?

It’s always good to talk, to get things out in the open as a form of therapy and to received advice and guidance in return. This can be done through counselling, friends, and colleagues or even by your hairdresser or beauty therapist who like to talk and listen to their clients talk. For some people it can be difficult to openly express how they are feeling especially if they are going through turmoil. I believe that this doesn’t help their wellbeing and it can hold them back in certain situations in life. Things hidden can always come back and bite us in the bum when we least expect it and will continue unless we face the issue, but of course at the same time you have to feel ready to do so.

Poland Mourns

Those on the plane were due to attend the 70th anniversary of the Katyn Massacre where over 20,000 Polish officers, intelligence and Polish elite were killed in the Smolensk region.

Independent Women – why is it so important for women to strive to be the best they can be?

To an extent, none of us are independent as we are living from outside pressures and rules. As James Brown once famously said, it is a man’s world, but it would be nothing without a woman and I would happen to agree with him. You just have to look at our politicians to see how many men there are as opposed to women. Hardly comparable.

Throughout history, women have had to take a back seat. Until this century, things in Western society started to change. Emmeline Pankhurst (1858-1928) and the suffragettes fought hard for the right for women to vote.
